This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

As we approach the release date for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the community seems to get more and more excited. The past titles haven’t seen anywhere near the amount of content that Modern Warfare has available from the start. With this excitement, some creators are looking to capitalize as there are many avenues in terms of content. One of these creators is the two-time Blockbuster video game champion, DrDisrespect. He is toying with an interesting idea that could bring even more hype to Modern Warfare‘s launch.

DrDisrespect’s tournament idea for Modern Warfare

A couple of days ago on Twitter, the Doc sent out a tweet that got the whole community buzzing. Like many others, DrDisrespect is intrigued by the integration of cross-play in Call of Duty this year, which got him to propose a tournament in Modern Warfare.

Taking place in the 2v2 Gunfight mode, Doc is proposing that one console player and one PC player team up in a tournament. This team will go head to head with another squad set up exactly like theirs, with one console and PC player.

Although the prize pool of $100,000 seems lofty, tournament hoster Code Red does have a history with DrDisrespect. Maybe they’re willing to pitch in the money if the tournament generates enough buzz.

Once Doc sent this tweet, pro players and creators alike immediately jumped into the comments. The likes of Nadeshot, Crimsix, Dizzy, Lirik, Censor, and Aydan all seem more than willing to participate. The fact that even Fortnite and Apex Legends players want to play COD is certainly a good sign for this year.

Modern Warfare Gunfight
Gunfight was one of Modern Warfare‘s most popular modes during the open beta.

There’s no word on whether or not this will come to fruition. However, knowing DrDisrespect, something of this nature is bound to occur eventually. Maybe Code Red could even make this a weekly or monthly tournament. We’ll have to wait for Modern Warfare to release on Oct. 25 to know for sure.
