100 Thieves, the LA-based esports, lifestyle, and apparel organization founded by former Call of Duty world champion and YouTube sensation Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag, announced earlier today that it has completed its series A funding round. Leading this round of investment is the Grammy award-winning, platinum-selling Canadian record artist Drake, and Scooter Braun. Scooter is the founder of SB Projects, owner of School Boy Records, and co-owner of Raymond-Braun Media Group. He represents artists such as Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.

Drake and Braun will be joining Nadeshot and Dan Gilbert, chairman of the Cleveland Cavaliers, as 100 Thieves co-owners. They will act as strategic advisers for the brand. Braun has also joined the board of directors.

Drake has previously made gaming headlines when he broke the Twitch streaming record for most-viewed stream by a single player by dropping in to play Fortnite with pro-gamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins. His recent interest in 100 Thieves has been a hot topic to his Instagram followers. They suspected something like this was in the works when he followed the company prior to the announcement.

Apparel collaborations are already underway with Drake. 100 Thieves has also already collaborated with him on the custom gaming stations traveling with his current Scorpion Tour.

Braun says this is just the beginning. They are honored to join “one of the most authentic brands in the ever-evolving gaming space.”

Nadeshot excited for the future of 100 Thieves

Nadeshot echoes that excitement for the future. He says he is proud to have Drake and Scooter join as his partners to help take 100 Thieves to new heights.

“Our top priority is to win world championships, but our ambitions go far beyond competitive gaming,” said Nadeshot. “With Drake and Scooter’s support, we’re going to build a lasting brand on the back of the content and apparel that our fans have come to love, aggressively expand into more games, scale our apparel business, and build a world-class management team.”

Investment companies impressed with 100 Thieves’ growth

Some of the other new companies joining in the series A funding round include Sequoia Capital, WNDRCO, and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff. To date, 100 Thieves has raised over $25 million dollars in funding. Stephanie Zhan of Sequoia says they are incredibly impressed by the company’s progress. They are “thrilled to partner with 100 Thieves to help build a leading gaming and esports brand for today’s generation.”
