Dallas announces former Halo champion Shotzzy for their CDL roster

In their second announcement in as many days, Dallas Call of Duty has revealed its second roster signing. Revealing James “Clayster” Eubanks yesterday, Dallas has announced Anthony “Shotzzy” Cuevas-Castro is joining the team. A former Halo world champion with Splyce, Shotzzy is making his Call of Duty debut in a big way. This will be not only his first team but also his first time playing Call of Duty at a professional level. Dallas is expected to keep announcing players until Saturday when they unveil their brand for the 2020 Call of Duty League season.

As with most Call of Duty League news, we already basically knew this signing was happening. Although nothing was official until now, there have been leaks for months about Shotzzy joining Dallas’ team. Shotzzy joins defending champion Clayster, making for a formidable pair.

While he hasn’t competed at any professional Call of Duty events, Shotzzy is no stranger to LAN events. Competing in Halo since age 16, the now 18-year-old has five championships under his belt, including a 2018 World Championship.

Seen as a player with immense mechanical and natural talent, Shotzzy shouldn’t have a hard time finding his footing. However, an adjustment period with the respawn game modes may be needed, as Shotzzy is primarily a Search and Destroy player.

This is the second fragment in a five-piece puzzle for Dallas Call of Duty. The next three weekdays will each reveal a new player for its starting five with Saturday unveiling the brand. Unconfirmed (but very likely) leaks point to Dallas’ starting roster looking like this:

  • James “Clayster” Eubanks
  • Anthony “Shotzzy” Cuevas-Castro
  • Ian “Crimsix” Porter
  • Indervir “iLLeY” Dhaliwal
  • Cuyler “Huke” Garland

We’ll just have to wait for the next three days to see for sure what Dallas has to offer.
