Activision, in partnership with Estars Studios, announced that a brand new Creator Challenge tournament is being held for COD Mobile. The challenge will pit some of the game’s top competitors and big Call of Duty personalities against each other in a round-robin tournament. With the prize pool set at $30,000, this is the biggest tournament COD Mobile has seen since its release. The tournament is set to start Sunday, Dec. 15 with a snake-style draft. Then Dec. 21 – 22, the four teams of five will battle it out for the lion’s share of the prize. The Creator Challenge is being presented by the World Showdown of Esports (WSOE).

COD Mobile enters the esports scene

While some may discredit mobile games as esports, the fact of the matter is they require a lot of skill. In order to compete at a high level, mobile players practice and fine-tune their talent as much as any other esport player.

The COD Mobile Creator Challenge is a great benefit to both the game and the mobile gaming scene. Though the game has seen well over 100 million downloads since release, more attention is never a negative thing.

The Creator Challenge begins with a snake-style draft from the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas on Dec. 15. In addition to some of COD Mobile‘s top players, personalities such as Clint “Maven” Evans, Anthony “Methodz” Zinni, and Ian “Enable” Wyatt will take part in the tournament.

Following the draft, the Creator Challenge kicks off the weekend of Dec. 21-22. On the 21st, the U.S. and Mexico will compete, and the 22nd sees Brazil take the stage. The tournament will follow a round-robin format, playing Team Deathmatch and Domination.

Jeff Liboon, president of Estars Studios, said about the event: “We are excited to work with Activision to produce a one-of-a-kind show for one of the fastest-growing mobile games in the world. We’re looking forward to combining our passion for mobile esports with our high-quality WSOE production to put on a stellar event.”

You can watch the Creator Challenge on the WSOE Twitch and YouTube channels. The competitors will also stream the event on their own streaming channels. Make sure to stay tuned to Daily Esports for all updates on the event and future Call of Duty news.
