Clearlove becomes the new Head coach of Edward Gaming

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Ming “Clearlove” Kai is considered as one of the most talented and respected players in the history of League of Legends. Clearlove has been a jungle player at the pro level for over 7 years. However, earlier today, he announced that it is time for him to step down as a player for Edward Gaming (EDG). Instead, he will be continuing as the head coach for the EDG team.

Clearlove’s Legacy

EDG Clearlove

Clearlove joined his current team, EDG, back in February of 2014. Following his success with a different Chinese organization, Team WE. Throughout his years with EDG he has competed at three world championships and won 5 LPL seasons with his team. In addition, he has competed at dozens of national and international events, with the most notable being his victory at MSI 2015.

Over the last year, however, Clearlove’s performance has been lacking. The level of practice required has (allegedly) become too much for Clearlove at this time, according to LPL caster “Remember”. There is no doubt that the team will become much stronger with Clearlove leading them from outside of the game. Though, fans hope one-day Clearlove will return to the stage to compete again.

The replacement Jungle player for EDG

At this time, it hasn’t been confirmed yet who will be taking over the lead jungle position for the EDG roster. The substitute, Zhao “JieJie” Li-Jie is currently the only confirmed jungle player for the roster. However, what we have seen of JieJie so far, he is far from ready for the starting position of a top LPL team. One possibility is that Lê “SofM” Quang Duy could be making an appearance on the roster after he left Li-Ning Gaming yesterday.
