Cameron “Kronovi” Bills, one of the founding members of the G2 Rocket League team, is leaving the organization. Despite some rumours, not many believed it to be true, but the word has finally been confirmed. He is replaced by Reed “Chicago” Wilen, who comes from Evil Geniuses.
Legendary status
Kronovi enjoys a legendary status in the scene. Considered to be the best player in the world in the early days of Rocket League, he went on to win the first ever RLCS world championship. He has since been a familiar face in the professional scene.
His next destination is Rogue, who dropped their relegated team in favour of picking up the recently released FlyQuest team. He will be playing alongside Austin “AyyJayy” and Nicholas “Wonder” Blackerby. The two players were looking for a new third after Ronin “PrimeThunder” D’Aurio was released from the roster.

The road forward
According to G2’s own announcement, Kronovi was removed from the roster after a few seasons of underwhelming tournament results. “This decision wasn’t made easily as Kronovi has always been a focal point of our team and its founding member. He’s an exemplary professional and was a strong and vocal captain during his time leading the team,” they write. “With Chicago joining the roster we’re expecting to add even more hunger for the win. The 17-year-old North American striker brings an ambitious attitude and has been showcasing his great skills on EG in the last couple of months.”
A promising future
Chicago is considered one of the bigger talents of Rocket League. He impressed in his first season of RLCS last season with EG, and dominated the lower division the season before that. It was just a matter of time before he would find his way onto a top-tier team. With G2’s disappointing results, the discussion started about who would leave the team to increase their chances of winning RLCS. Chicago himself also looks driven to take his game to the next level:
“G2 Esports is an iconic organization in Rocket League’s history, so being able to join it alongside Rizzo and JKnaps is a dream come true for me and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. My goal for this team is to win any sort of LAN event because I have never been able to do so and it has always been my number one goal in Rocket League.”
Head of Team Operations at G2, Danny Engels, commented as well:
