Captain Faceroll advanced out of pools unscathed, as expected. Along the way, he earned victories over Logan “LSD” Dunn and Harrison “HTwa” Turner. He then advanced into Melee top 8 with a 3-1 win over Zaid “Spark” Ali.

Captain Faceroll lost to Jason “Mew2King” Zimmerman 3-1 in Losers Semis. In addition, he initially looked shaky in the losers bracket. Captain Faceroll barely eked out a game five victory over David “Kalvar” Coyne in Losers Quarters. He even went down 0-2 against Spark in their Losers Semis set. However, something must have clicked for Captain Faceroll after game two of Losers Semis; he did not drop another game for the rest of the tournament.

After a reverse 3-0 over Spark, Captain Faceroll proceeded to face off against Edgard “n0ne” Sheleby. Captain Faceroll won that set 3-0, dropping only two stocks throughout the entire set. He then defeated Mew2King 6-0 between both sets of Grand Finals, winning DreamHack Atlanta 2019 Melee Singles. This dominant victory also marked Captain Faceroll’s first win over any of the five gods of Melee.
