2023 is closing with an interesting AAA game from Ubisoft in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. The famed movie franchise is getting an intriguing video game adaptation, and some fans are wondering if they’ll be able to explore the world of Pandora on their Steam Deck.
The Steam Deck is a handheld PC from Valve that allows users to access their entire Steam library, and other games, on the go or wherever else they want that’s away from their desk. However, not every game is supported by Steam Deck, meaning users who own the handheld always need to check if a game can run on it before making a purchase.
In the guide below, you can see if Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is supported on Steam Deck or not.
Is Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora playable on Steam Deck?
The short answer is yes, technically you can play Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora on Steam Deck. Unfortunately, this is only through unofficial methods.
Frontiers of Pandora is launching exclusively on Ubisoft Connect on PC, which is where most Ubisoft titles are released in today’s age. While the game could arrive on different marketplaces, such as Steam or Epic Games, in the future, it will only be available on Ubisoft Connect when it launches on Dec. 7. This means you won’t be able to access it natively on Steam Deck.
The only way you can play Frontiers of Pandora on Steam Deck is by downloading the Linux operating system and installing the Ubisoft Connect application from there. However, I don’t suggest this, as Frontiers of Pandora is a graphically demanding game that won’t run well whatsoever on Steam Deck’s limited hardware. Downloading and using Linux is also a major hassle that affects the rest of your Steam Deck experience as well.

So, if you truly want to try and play Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora on Steam Deck, you technically do have the option of doing so. I would strongly advise against trying, though, as the negatives of the venture far outweigh the positives.
