The Season 4 Reloaded update introduced a plethora of solid changes and content in Call of Duty: Warzone. From numerous weapon balancing changes to bringing the Terminator crossover, players have generally enjoyed Season 4 Reloaded. However, some of the player base has noticed that the update also brought some unwanted features. Most notably, after the update, the map of Caldera has begun to experience severe lag spikes in Warzone.

Players in the community noted just Caldera is experiencing these issues. The other two Warzone maps, Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep, are playing normally after the Season 4 Reloaded update. On Caldera, though, players will routinely report they lag all over the map and see enemies disappear and then reappear in a new location.

This also seems to be different from a known glitch that popped up earlier on in Season 4 Reloaded. That glitch caused frame rate skips as a result of ping spikes. Now, players are seeing simple lag spikes all across Caldera. Players have reported their experiences on social media, namely Reddit. One recent post perfectly showcases the issue that players are having.

Warzones been unplayable for the past few days…this is almost every game for me

As the clip demonstrates, the player sees an enemy, but then they disappear only to reappear in a whole other location behind the player. While lag has always been a part of Warzone, players think this is a specific glitch on Caldera. Comments on this Reddit post began to roll in, saying that Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep don’t experience this severe lag. One commenter posted: “It’s really bad, especially on Caldera, matches there are much, much laggier compared to those on Rebirth Island or Fortune’s Keep.”

Of course, players’ internet connection could be somewhat at fault for these lag problems. However, with so many players citing lag spikes on Caldera specifically, it seems there’s a larger problem at play in Season 4 Reloaded.

As of right now, Raven Software hasn’t responded to the apparent lag glitch on Caldera. If they do, though, it likely won’t be until Season 5 of Warzone arrives.
