Call of Duty: Vanguard leaker gives update on mini-map and killstreaks

An update on two key features in multiplayer

The community is just a day away from learning more about Call of Duty: Vanguard at the worldwide multiplayer reveal. Sledgehammer Games will take center stage to discuss various aspects of the multiplayer, and why certain decisions were made. This is the first time fans will see all that core multiplayer has to offer. However, leakers have already given fans an idea of what to expect. Several insiders are already leaking information about multiplayer, ahead of the reveal. A part of this information contains further details on the Call of Duty: Vanguard mini-map and killstreak options.

Both of these elements were previously leaked in a smaller capacity before the Champion Hill alpha. Opinions on the initial intel on these aspects were mixed. Just before the reveal, though, leakers gave an update to how the mini-map and killstreaks will work, and reactions are now leaning more positive.

More details on the Vanguard mini-map and killstreaks

In late August, one reputable leaker in the Call of Duty community reported that the mini-map in Vanguard would mirror that of Modern Warfare’s. Essentially, enemies wouldn’t show up as red dots on the radar when they fired with an unsuppressed weapon. This was a controversial decision in Modern Warfare and it’s still controversial today.

While fans tweeted at Sledgehammer to change course, the decision has not been reverted as of right now. This is according to @TheMW2Ghost, who accurately predicted many aspects of Vanguard. They say that Sledgehammer will keep the feature in for the beta test weekends and gather player feedback afterward.

However, the leaker is also reporting that Vanguard will contain a perk to bring back the old mini-map. The perk is called Radar, and it allows the user to see enemies on the radar as red dots. This perk will supposedly feature into the second perk slot, alongside perks like High Alert and Tracker.

While this isn’t official, Sledgehammer could at least be giving players the chance to use the old mini-map if they choose.

Finally, TheMW2Ghost also gave fans some intel on additional killstreaks coming to Vanguard. According to the leaker, there are seven confirmed killstreaks as of right now. This number will increase as Sledgehammer reveals more information about multiplayer. The leaked killstreaks are as follows:

Killstreaks

  • Intel: 3 kills (Personal Radar)
  • Spy Plane: 4 kills
  • Counter Spy Plane: 4 kills
  • Glider Bomb: 5 kills
  • Care Package: 5 kills
  • Strafe Run: 6 kills
  • Dogs: 10 kills

Seeing dogs return to Call of Duty is sure to excite many fans. Although, 10 kills is quite a bit to reach to get them. Luckily, it seems fans will also be able to equip a perk that allows them to use scorestreaks instead of killstreaks. This means that capturing a Domination flag, for instance, will count to the player’s next streak instead of just kills.

All of this information is unconfirmed right now, but it’s likely Sledgehammer will tell all in the worldwide multiplayer reveal on Sept. 7. Then, players will be able to try things themselves when the beta goes live on Sept. 10 for PlayStation users.
