We’re just a few days away from the worldwide launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and physical copies are beginning to appear in the wild. Retailers have undoubtedly received shipments of the physical copies by now so they can prepare for the midnight release of the game. As such, some players are getting their hands on some of these copies that might have gotten “lost.” Recently, one Twitter user posted an image of the back of the game case for MW2. In this shot, we can see all of the promotional material for the game, including something called “Call of Duty HQ.”
This isn’t the first time the community has seen Call of Duty HQ. When the MW2 campaign went live, PC users on Discord and other applications could see “Call of Duty HQ” listed as the game they were playing. Usually, the actual name of the game would appear, but now that’s been replaced. Some players initially thought this was a bug, but now that we’ve seen the back cover of the physical case for MW2, it doesn’t appear like it’s a bug.
Call of Duty HQ teased for MW2
It’s unclear exactly what COD HQ could be. On the physical copy of MW2, the long description paragraph states “Call of Duty HQ and Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 included.” There’s no other mention of the feature on the back cover.

Some fans have theorized that COD HQ could be a central hub where players can load up any Call of Duty games they have access to (up to MW2019). The feature could be a menu that’s similar to what we’ve seen in previous years, but instead of only having the current game and Warzone, all games from MW2019 and on could be accessible. Of course, that’s just a theory, as Activision has said nothing official on the subject.
We will likely hear more about this feature in an upcoming launch blog for MW2. Activision traditionally posts that type of blog one or two days before release, so in this case, we could see it on Oct. 26-27.
