Weapon skins are something that many gaming aficionados enjoy collecting or trading around. In Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, there’s a vibrant marketplace for trading weapon skins. These are a means to show off something shiny to your friends. If you’re streaming or engaging others on social media, it’s also a way to look cool and nifty. It looks like Black Ops 4 will be improving on its cosmetics feature because, for the first time ever in a Call of Duty game, we’ll get to see Signature Weapons.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 — Signature Weapons cosmetics
According to Activision, Signature Weapons will be cosmetic and aesthetic changes only. They will offer no gameplay advantages whatsoever. The difference with the old system of weapon skins or camo in past Call of Duty games is that Signature Weapons will also have a more detailed progression system.
Firearms will have their own Signature Weapon variant. Once you’ve obtained a Signature Weapon, you’ll then have to complete challenges to improve that item’s look. After you’ve completed all the required challenges, the Signature Weapon becomes a Mastercraft — essentially having all the cosmetic upgrades.
For players who obtain the special editions of Black Ops 4, they will get the MX-9 Signature Weapon on launch day. There’s even an extra treat for those who pre-order via Gamestop. Players will also get the Strife Signature Weapon variant known as Divinity. Completing all the challenges for “Divinity” will transform it into the “Divine Justice” variant, which has a gold and silver finish. You can see it in the image above.
