Boston Uprising would announce the news via social media, dedicating a post to each of the players. Now, as for the players, not many people are surprised by the news. Avast and Snow were not able to get any playing time during the inaugural season of the Overwatch League. Therefore, they did not get the chance to prove themselves as much as they probably wanted to. As for Kalios, he was playing second fiddle to main tank Lucas “NotE” Meissner for a lot of the season. However, it was looking like he was playing well enough to at least be a sufficient backup/substitute.
Statements from Huk
Chris “Huk” Loranger, the President of Gaming for the Boston Uprising, would say this about Kalios:
You are someone who always brought a lot of energy, light-hearted comedy and passion to the game. I know we didn’t always see eye to eye on some issues, but I am glad you were on the team and I hope to see more of the legendary 5k Zarya in OW soon. I hope your next team can better use you and fit you into their lineup.
As for Avast, he would say:
Connor, you are charismatic, mature and personable. Every day you showed up not only to do yourjob but to help in whatever way you could. Although you never played an official game, you brought so much to our team and were an ideal teammate, player and leader. You never complained and always did you best, which is a hard thing to do for any player. You helped your teammates through a lot of tough times and carried a lot of weight on your shoulders this last year. I know you have the potential to be a centerpiece and a leader for your next team.
Finally, for Snow, he says:
I was happy to have met you in Toronto Esports and even happier to have brought you to OWL. You are an incredibly strong person how transformed in many ways over the last year. You changed and improved in so many ways both in and outside the game. You were one of the, if not the, hardest workers on the team. You are full of passion and optimism. I have no doubt if you continue to work hard with your attitude and drive, you will be successful in OW or whatever you choose to pursue in life. This is just the beginning for you and I look forward to seeing you to continue the path you are on and grow to new heights.
Now, the Boston Uprising are left with seven players following the big roster change. The team statement also says that the team has contract options on all players for the 2018-19 season. This sounds like the Boston Uprising are signing every other player for next year. Now, free agency is beginning for all teams on October 8th. Boston has until December 8th to reach the league minimum of eight players on the roster. We will keep you updated on all the Overwatch League free agency moves in the coming months.
