Boston Breach shore up Champs spot with win over LA Guerrillas

Boston has defeated a key opponent

The Boston Breach have continued to perform with their new roster in the CDL Major IV qualifiers. After defeating both OpTic Texas last weekend and Seattle Surge this weekend, the Breach have now taken down another major winner; the LA Guerrillas. All three of Boston’s wins in Major IV have come against the three previous major winners. They’ve managed to do so with a new roster that includes former Mutineer Reece “Vivid” Drost.

Many in the community criticized the Breach for dropping Kenyen “Capsidal” Suton in exchange for Vivid. While Capsidal wasn’t performing badly by any means, Boston opted for the veteran to close out the season. This decision has proven to be the right one, as Vivid is dominating so far with the Breach and his new submachine duo Dylan “Nero” Koch. Speaking of Nero, the rookie went off in the match today against the LA Guerrillas.

Nero finished with a 1.41 KD in the series, which is impressive by itself. However, Nero also managed to secure 110 kills and close to 12,000 damage in just four maps. The pairing of Nero and Vivid has paid giant dividends so far for Boston, who are looking like true title contenders. This win puts Boston at 150 CDL Points, which ties them with the Toronto Ultra.

Entering today, the LA Guerrillas were only five points behind Boston in the standings. With the win, the Breach secures their spot in the top eight of the standings even further, not letting the Guerrillas pass them. LA was competitive in today’s match, keeping every map close. Poor performances from Travis “Neptune” McCloud and Kris “Spart” Cervante were ultimately the difference in the loss, though.

The Guerrillas have proven they can beat the best after defeating Atlanta FaZe yesterday. However, consistency remains their biggest obstacle so far in Major IV. They’ll need to find some of it if they want to keep their spot in the top eight of the standings and make it to Champs come August.

Both the Boston Breach and LA Guerrillas play one more match next weekend to close out the Major IV qualifiers.
