Only one player was directly invited to this Smash Ultimate Summit: Leonardo “MkLeo” Perez. As the clear pick for No. 1 in the world, it is no surprise that he received an instant invitation to this event. What is surprising, however, is that he was the only direct invite. For comparison, Beyond the Summit directly invited six players to the first Smash Ultimate Summit.

The first qualifier event is Mainstage, which takes place in Ontario, California from September 20 – 22. Mainstage is a major Super Smash Bros. tournament hosted by Beyond the Summit. Since it is BTS’ first non-invitational event, Mainstage is very important for the upcoming Smash Summit. As a result, a whopping six players will earn Summit spots at this event. This is the most Smash Summit spots ever given out to high-placing players at a single tournament.

Smash Ultimate Summit 2’s remaining slots

The next six Smash Ultimate Summit 2 attendees will get in through the traditional voting method. The first two of these vote-in players will make it into Summit on September 30. Two more will make it on October 1, and another two on October 2.

Two more players will earn Smash Summit slots at The Big House 9. The Big House 9 will take place in Detroit, Michigan from October 4 – 6. Players will compete for the final Summit slot at a currently unannounced 2GG event in Southern California. This last chance qualifier will take place on October 20.

Smash Ultimate Summit 2 will take place at the Summit Gaming House in Los Angeles, California. The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate invitational will run from October 24 – 27.
