It’s a new month, which means there’s a new online competition coming to Pokémon Sword and Shield. In October, players can compete in the Battle of Legends Online Competition, where they can bring along one Legendary or Mythical Pokémon on their team.
The Battle of Legends Online Competition
The Battle of Legends Online Competition will take place from Thursday, October 15, at 5:00 PM PT until Sunday, October 18, at 4:59 PM PT. You can sign up for the competition from now until Thursday, October 15, at 4:59 PM PT. Once the competition begins, you can no longer sign up and participate.
To compete in the Battle of Legends competition, you must have a party of five Pokémon with the battle-ready symbol. You may also have one of the following Legendary or Mythical Pokémon on your team:
- Mewtwo
- Mew
- Celebi
- Jirachi
- Reshiram
- Zekrom
- Kyurem
- Keldeo
- Cosmog
- Cosmoem
- Solgaleo
- Lunala
- Necrozma
- Magearna
- Marshadow
- Zeraora
- Meltan
- Melmetal
- Zacian
- Zamazenta
- Eternatus
- Zarude
All battles will be doubles battles (each player sends out two Pokémon at a time). Players cannot have more than one of the same Pokémon or item in their party.
How to sign up
If you want to participate in the Battle of Legends, you can sign up on the Nintendo Switch. Open the VS Menu, go to Battle Stadium, and select Online Competitions. From there, choose “Search Official Competitions.” You should see the Battle of Legends there.
Once you’re signed up, you just have to wait until the competition begins. You will get 50 BP for participating in at least one battle during it. After the tournament ends, you can see the results of the tournament to see where you finished on the ladder.
