League of Legends Bombers Galatasaray BalKhan

BalKhan, formerly of OPL Bombers, joins Galatasaray Esports

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

After failing to advance from the MSI Play-In group stages, Bombers’ former jungler Choi “BalKhan” Hyun-jin decided to join the Turkish Galatasaray Esports. The South Korean League of Legends pro left the Bombers after just six months of playing with them. This brings another big roster change for Galatasaray, and it might not be the last.

BalKhan confirmed the news on Twitter, retweeting Galatasaray’s announcement tweet. Furthermore, he told his fans not to worry and promised to make them happy.

As previously mentioned, the South Korean resident first joined the OPL’s Bombers back in December 2018. After a long reign of the Dire Wolves, the Bombers managed to finish first in the 2019 OPL Split 1. Advancing into the playoffs, they unsurprisingly swept their opponents in the finals to qualify for MSI. There, the team fell in a fairly difficult group. However, they showed some great performances and managed to finish tied for 3rd place in their group. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough as only one team advanced from the group to the next round.

The Turkish League of Legends team, which has strong ties to the Galatasaray football team, will be looking to fight for their first TCL title following their recent acquisitions. They came quite close in the past split but lost to the eventual champions, 1907 Fenerbahçe Esports, in the semifinals. Galatasaray recently picked up former Royal Youth jungler GBM as part of their roster rebuild.

Bombers’ new jungler

Bombers will be looking for BalKhan’s replacement in the weeks to come. They have plenty of time as Split 2 of the OPL returns at the start of July. Possible stand-ins include their current jungle substitutes, Sebastian “Seb” de Ceglie and William “Zenk” Hunter. The team will probably want to build the roster around their star ADC Victor “FBI” Huang. We are excited to see what changes they make and how they will affect their performance in Split 2.
