Atlanta Reign reveal entire 2022 Overwatch League roster

Three players return and four players start fresh

The Atlanta Reign have revealed their entire 2022 Overwatch League roster, with three players returning from their 2021 roster. In the 2021-22 Overwatch League offseason, this marks the second fully complete roster after the Dallas Fuel, as well as the beginning of three rookie players’ Overwatch League careers.

The experienced players joining the Reign

Starting with the three returning players from 2021, Blake “Gator” Scott, Xander “Hawk” Domecq and Kai “Kai” Collins are back. Gator and Hawk, while they’re no longer going to be playing together in-game, will share the tank spot within Overwatch 2. Kai, as the hitscan player for the Reign, aims to continue his strong form in 2021, helping lead Atlanta to the grand finals.

But, the four new players joining the roster are what make this reveal interesting — starting with the only new Reign player who isn’t a rookie: former Shock DPS Charlie “nero” Zwarg. After starting his career on the Guangzhou Charge, nero took a big step in playing for San Francisco in 2021. He couldn’t help them get their threepeat, but his talent was undeniable. He joins the Reign as their new flex DPS, playing whatever Kai isn’t.

The rookies joining the Reign

The three rookies joining the team finish off the 2022 roster, starting with Korean DPS player Lee “Venom” Dong-keun. Formerly known as Sigma, he grew to popularity as one of the few Korean players who moved to play in North America relatively early on in his career. Most notably, he played on NA Contenders team Odyssey, winning the Mayhem Spring Classic over American Tornado in early 2021. As primarily a Tracer and Cassidy player, what he lacks in flexibility he makes up for in pure skill. Before his retirement, fans were expecting him to join the Overwatch League sooner. Now that he’s back, it’s time for him to prove those fans right.

Next is the first of their two rookie supports, American main support Christian “Ojee” Han. Formerly of NA Contenders winning teams such as Redbird Esports, American Tornado and Team Doge, he has shown his skills in North America. Being able to flex in between Mercy, Lucio, Brigitte and even Baptiste, his value to his teams has been immense. Now, he looks to work alongside a new team and get back to the heights he was known for in Contenders.

However, he won’t be doing that alone. His American teammate flex support Benjamin “UltraViolet” David is also joining the Reign. Having played with Ojee since their American Tornado days, their partnership on support has been very successful. Having played competitive Overwatch since he was thirteen, he will turn of age to play for the Atlanta Reign just as the league begins in April of 2022.
