World of Tanks ANZ Premier League heads into the finals

Four teams have made it through to the final stages of the ANZ World of Tanks Premier League

The regular season of the World of Tanks ANZ Premier League is coming to a close. After a successful first season, season two is now heading into its final stages. The semi-finals will be held on Friday, May 7. The following weekend, on May 14, there will be a playoff match for third place. The finals will then be played in person at Fortress Melbourne on May 22. This will be one of the first live esports events occurring in Melbourne, Australia since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

ANZ World of Tanks Semi finals action

Only four teams remain in the second season of the World of Tanks ANZ Premier League. The Melbourne Matildas, South Sydney Skorpions, North Sydney Sentinels and Brisbane Bulldogs will battle it out for a place in the finals. All games will be streamed on the official World of Tanks Twitch channel, and you can check out the online schedule for more details.

The first semi-final is between the Melbourne Matlidas and Brisbane Bulldogs. Both teams had been performing fairly well, however, the Melbourne Matlidas look set to win this first final. The Matlidas have yet to loose a game, having three wins and four draws so far. Brisbane on the other hand have only two wins, also falling to three draws and two losses. Melbourne is the favorite here as they look to secure their place in the finals.

The two Sydney teams are more evenly matched. South Sydney is slightly ahead with no losses under their belt. No matter who wins the second semi, if Melbourne beat Brisbane, it will be another classic Melbourne vs. Sydney rivalry. If you are lucky enough to live in Melbourne, then you’ll be able to watch the World of Tanks ANZ Premier League finals live in person. The event is free, but you’ll need to register through the website.

Winnings, prizes and fantasy league

Speaking of prizes, there have been plenty of prizes up for grabs during the World of Tanks ANZ Premier League. Fans were able to build their own fantasy Tanks teams and win some prizes for doing so. First place took home 10,000 in-game gold, an ASUS WiFi router and a HyperX Cloud 2 headset. Both prizes are on offer from HyperX and Republic of Gamers, the main sponsors of the league. The HyperX headsets are custom branded, limited edition and will be given away to viewers too.

More on the prizes, the fantasy league second place winner will also received a headset and 5,000 in-game gold, with third place taking home 5,000 in-game gold.

As for both teams taking part in the World of Tanks ANZ Premier League final, each member will receive one of the HyperX headsets. Members of the winning team will also receive a ROG Strix Curved 32-inch gaming monitor. Monitors are available as prizes to viewers too.
