Among Us developer InnerSloth has released a new DevBlog updating players on what the future of the game holds. This social deduction game has some exciting developments coming down the pipeline but has taken longer than expected to execute. Now InnerSloth is shedding some light on what changes are coming to Among Us.
The overwhelming success of Among Us has led to a lot of changes to the game. Not only is Among Us now live on the Nintendo Switch but it is headed to Xbox consoles soon. Among Us also recently launched on the Epic Game store, giving players a wide range of platforms to play on. As InnerSloth works to bring Among Us to more players, the roadmap for upcoming features is veering off the initial path laid out earlier in 2020.
Among Us accounts and future updates
After canceling a previously announced sequel once Among Us became a surprise hit, InnerSloth needed to rethink how they approached the development of the game.
“We had to spend two months just restructuring, figuring out new processes, and getting external partners to help us manage on board,” InnerSloth wrote on the Devlog. “Not to mention additional platforms (like Nintendo Switch and Xbox) means more support, certifications to go through, and whatnot. We have help from our porting partners for that, but it still means we need to make sure future things we do are supported on those platforms. There’s a ton of other things out of our control (legal issues, meetings, planning), so sometimes these things take longer as well.”
InnerSloth also addresses when they expect to see accounts added to Among Us. The developers wanted to add it earlier in the development cycle but delayed it to ensure they worked properly first. The first account-related update will focus on moderation and InnerSloth is hoping to have it out soon. The team is still working on a friend system, a stat tracker, and more but is placing a high priority on the account and moderation features.
InnerSloth did not give specific dates on when to expect these updates but told players to expect them soon.
