#Area51 was recently trending on Twitter. “Raid Area 51” or “Storm Area 51” referred to searching the American military test site for alien life. Well, we didn’t find alien life, but we found the Alienware Area 51m. At last year’s PAX Aus, we had the chance to catch up with Alienware. They spoke about the future of esports and how technology is shaping the competitive gaming landscape. Now we have the Area 51m in our hands to check out.

Area 51m ushers in a new era

The Alienware Area 51m is an absolute beast of a machine. Not only is this computer super beefed up in look and appearance, but it has the specs to back it up. Equipped with 9th generation Intel processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX, there isn’t much this computer can’t handle. We were lucky enough to have one of the highest-spec machines as the Area 51m comes in four options. Choose between the i7-9700 or i9-9900K as the heart of your computer.

If you want the best graphics on offer, choose the RTX 2080. It’s capable of showing not only the best graphics for gaming, but also the best graphics for rendering. If you’re into computer design for engineering or even architecture, this is the computer for you. It can effortlessly render drawings and 3D animations. The Area 51m comes in 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB RAM depending on how you plan to use your computer. Check out all four versions on the Dell website.

Not your average laptop

The Area 51m is definitely not your average gaming laptop. In fact, we wouldn’t even call it a laptop. Not only is it super heavy, but if you intend to run it at full power you’ll need two power packs. It’s not exactly portable; however, this is one of the best workstations you can buy. In fact, it’s better to think of it as a high-spec workstation you can take on the road and set up at trade shows, in the office, or at the hotel. It’s not something you’ll simply want to pull out at the airport. It’s almost literally a portable desktop.

This super high-spec, beefy, epic machine is going to cost you as well. The Area 51m starts around $2,500 USD ($3999.01 AUD) with the top-spec model setting you back over $4,000 USD ($6,399.01 AUD). But with these specs, you seriously aren’t going to find better performance. If you like the sound of the Area 51m and not the portability, don’t worry. The Area 51m also comes in a desktop version simply called Area 51.

The Area 51 desktop comes with even higher specs and is a sweet-looking machine. It’s pretty much at the pinnacle of PC performance. You can check out the Area 51 on the Dell website as well and we’ll let you discover the price for yourself. There’s some amazing RGB lighting happening on this computer, and its unconventional shape provides your setup with something a little edgy.

Alienware at PAX Aus

Sure, the Area 51m and Area 51 look epic, but where can you try them out? Alienware has confirmed they’ll be at PAX Australia this year. We’re assuming they’ll have some of these awesome machines at their booth as well as a bunch of games to play. Alienware is also running a panel on Friday at 11 a.m. AEST at the EB Live Theatre. Chris Sutphen of Alienware will join some of the guys from ORDER to discuss how technology has helped shaped esports.

Along with Alienware, RIG Gaming and Razer have confirmed their attendance at PAX. Along with plenty of hardware and gaming vendors, Fortress Australia has announced they’ll have a booth featuring Fortress Melbourne. This will be one of the first showcases of the newest esports space coming to Melbourne, Australia. If you’re going to be at PAX Aus, let us know what you’re excited about. If you haven’t gotten your tickets, get in quick as they are almost sold out!

Disclosure: Michelle Mannering will be hosting the Alienware panel alongside Chris Sutphen from Alienware and Chris Derrick & Naithan Briffa from ORDER Esports.
