Next week heralds the coming of Patch 8.1.5 for World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth. Unusual for a “half patch” that falls between major patches (such as December’s Patch 8.1.0), next week’s patch includes a number of significant gameplay changes, including new features and a couple of new races.
The most notable change slated for this patch is the long-awaited release of both the Zandalari Trolls for the Horde and the Kul Tiran Humans for the Alliance. These new races have been highly-anticipated since the announcement of the Battle for Azeroth expansion, and though they do have some unlock requirements, most players have had plenty of time to satisfy them in the months since BfA’s release.
Patch 8.1.5 has also revamped the Brawler’s Guild. In past expansions, the Brawler’s Guild has been fun, but not particularly compelling from a narrative standpoint—you’d clock in, defeat bosses, earn rewards, then clock out. This iteration of the Brawler’s Guild is a bit more complex. While players will still have to run a gauntlet of boss battles, they will also be sent off to investigate a murder mystery, with the opportunity to earn Bruce, a crocolisk and former Brawler’s Guild boss, as a mount.
Other notable elements of this patch include updates to crafting professions, an aesthetic revamp of Arathi Basin and Warsong Gulch, a 50 character per Realm increase, and a smattering of other minor changes. The official release date of the patch has not yet been announced, but it will likely come very soon.
