Worlds 2021 merch proceeds will support Riot Games’ Social Impact Fund

With the arrival of the 2021 League of Legends World Championship comes Worlds merchandise, usually designed around the theme and country of the tournament’s hosting region. This year, however, Riot Games made a late change in the event’s location, shifting from a tour across China to Reykjavík, Iceland. Due to the change, the collection no longer reflects Worlds correctly.

Given the timing of the pivot, Riot couldn’t design new, Iceland-themed merch, and to reduce waste, they’ll still sell the original 2021 merch designs at a reduced price. Additionally, all proceeds will go to Riot’s Social Impact Fund, which supports education, citizenship, opportunity and sustainability across the globe. The proceeds from the Worlds collection will specifically support COVID-19 relief.

Since its creation in 2019, Riot has used their Social Impact Fund in many various campaigns, including partnering with their recent Sentinels of Light event, a COVID-19 fundraiser through special skin sales in the League client, a Mid-Season Streamathon event and many more. In 2020, Riot reported more than $8 million in donations across their multiple campaigns.
