One of the more exciting announcements to come out of COD Next was regarding the future of Call of Duty: Warzone. In addition to showcasing all of the new gameplay of the game, the developers at Raven Software revealed that two fan-favorite maps, Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep, will be returning to the new iteration of Warzone in the future.
Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep were both last seen at the end of the Vanguard life cycle of Warzone. With Warzone 2 launching at the same time as Modern Warfare 2 this past year, Activision decided to only move forward with a single brand new map, Al Mazrah. However, things are changing for the better in Warzone, and the developers are fulfilling a large community request by adding two Resurgence-style maps alongside the main map of Urzikstan.
In the guide below, you can see the approximate release dates for both Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep in the new version of Warzone.
Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep release date in MW3 Warzone
For those of you hoping to drop back into either of the Resurgence maps at the launch of the new Warzone, you will unfortunately be disappointed.
According to the Raven Software developers, both Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep are not coming to Warzone until 2024. There is not too much additional information, as the devs are not committing to a concrete release date as of yet.
We didn’t even hear a specific season for when to expect the maps or if they will launch at the same time or in different seasons. So we’re nearly completely in the dark except for the fact that they’re releasing at some point in 2024.
In 2023, Warzone will see the release of Urzikstan, which is currently playable in MW3 Zombies. The new map will be released for Warzone as a free update when Season 1 of MW3 arrives on Dec. 6. You will still have access to all of your MW2 weapons, loadouts, and Operators when the integration happens. However, the current crop of Warzone maps, such as Al Mazrah, will be fully replaced by Urzikstan. It will be the only playable map at launch. Of course, now that we know other maps are coming in the future, this isn’t such a bad thing.

The bottom line is eventually Warzone will have Urzikstan, Rebirth Island, Fortune’s Keep, Ashika Island, and Vondel in the map rotation at the same time. As for when that time comes, that’s still to be determined. But on Dec. 6, Urzikstan will replace all of the current Warzone maps.
