Details on Kog’Maw VFX Updates

Beardlilocks stated the goals of the updates are to revamp “gameplay clarity on missile widths, R edge indicator and W/P empowered state. Asides from this, Kog’Maw’s Living Artillery (R) ultimate will have a stronger edge indicator. This will help visualize the ultimate’s effective range. So, the new indicator from Riot will reduce confusion in huge game moments and team fights. It will also allow opponents to play much better around the ultimate as it will be easier to spot.

Moreover, Kog’Maw will get a less vague purple aura when activating Bio-Arcane Barrage (W). His Caustic spittle(Q) is also getting a VFX update to make sure players know it is not an auto-attack.

Changes to Kog’Maw Skins

The VFX updates also affect the champion’s skins. Kog’Maw is one of the League’s oldest champions having been released in 2010. Most of his skins cost 520 or 975 RP with few visual effects on them.  Since Riot usually doesn’t add unique VFX to any skins less than 1350 RP, Kog’Maw’s case is an exception.

Beardlilocks also explained that since the skins all had custom recolors when he was in Bio-Arcanage (W), he went through them all, making them feel much more empowered. In addition, Kog’Maw’s 1350 RP Lion Dance skin will receive a unique Void Ooze (E) in the VFX update. With this skin, he will spit up a big ball of goopy fireworks that rolls at enemies.

On the time for release,  Beardliocks confirmed that the VFX will be on the PBE  for “an extended period”, at least two PBE cycles. This means that League players can expect Kog’Maw’s VFX updates either at the end of the month with the Patch 11.9  or early May.
