What to expect from the Honkai: Star Rail 2.5 Update

HoYoverse has officially announced the details of the 2.5 update for Honkai: Star Rail, titled Flying Aureus Shot to Lupine Rue. There’s a lot for players to look forward to, from new characters, story continuations, and even a new banner type.

Here’s what you need to know: the story of Xianzhou Luofu Wardance continues, and the game will introduce two new 5-star character. In addition, a new type of banner — called the Indelible Coterie — will appear in the first phase. This banner features rerun characters and their Light Cones. As always, there will also be limited-time events for players to participate in.

Release date for Honkai: Star Rail 2.5

The new update will roll out on Monday, September 9, at 11 pm ET. Here are the release times for other major regions:

• BST: September 10, 4 am
• AWST (Australia Western Time): September 10, 11 am
• AEST (Australia Eastern Time): September 10, 1 pm
• IST (India): September 10, 8:30 am

The things to look forward to this update…

…are the characters! Most specifically, Feixiao, who is a 5-star character who will make her debut in the 2.5 update. Feixiao, the General of Xianzhou Yaoqing, has already captured the attention of many players (myself included). She follows the Hunt combat path and possesses Wind as her combat type.

Feixiao’s ultimate ability, Flying Aureus, lets her accumulate stacks while attacking, making her a desirable DPS character for those who prefer Wind-based follow-up attacks. So, if you’ve been saving up Stellar Jade, now might be the time to spend it.

Another new 5-star character debuting is Lingsha, a Fire attacker with The Abundance path. While healers aren’t usually my preferred character type, Lingsha’s ability to summon an incense beast capable of follow-up attacks and healing may be your thing.

The new 4-star character in this patch is Moze, a Lightning DPS who follows The Hunt Combat Path. He has the ability to mark enemies as “Prey” and execute follow-up attacks after teammates’ actions.

The new rerun banner

One of the most exciting changes is the introduction of a three-banner system called Indelible Coterie. It includes reruns of popular characters like Kafka, Black Swan, and Robin in version 2.5.

What’s unique here is that it shares its pity system with Feixiao’s banner, which will give you more flexibility in your pulls.

Storyline and Events

The 2.5 update introduces a new Trailblaze Continuance mission, Finest Duel Under the Pristine Blue (II), progressing the Wardance Festival storyline.

A new area, the Skysplitter (the gundeck of Xianzhou Luofu), will also debut as part of the story.
