The League of Legends Patch 11.17 preview shown today teases a lot of champions and item changes coming to the game soon. Among the major changes are nerfs to Viego, Graves, the Divine Sunderer. Meanwhile, Ekko, Evelyn, Nami, Xayah, Senna are among the champions that will receive buffs.
Divine Sunderer nerf long overdue
Since the item was released in November 2020, it has become most top laners choice to deal with tanks. LoL patch 11.11 saw the item receive a buff which increased its popularity amongst players. Its popularity has made it the second most purchased item in-game with a 51% win rate.
Many players expected the mythic item to be nerfed in Patch 11. 16 and were disappointed to see nothing done to it. Many of the complaints about the item stem from the advantage it gives bruisers like Camille and Wukong. These champions have the ability to not only shred through tanks but heal while doing so. Furthermore, MAD Lions top laner, Irfan “Armut” Tukek in the LEC summer playoffs series against G2 showed how powerful the Wukong can be in extended fights with the item.
Possible Viego nerfs for League of Legends Patch 11.17
Viego has continued to turn heads since coming on to the rift in 2021. For League of Legends Patch 11.17, Viego will receive nerfs to his ultimate ability, auto-attack range, and base healing from his passive. Lead LoL champion designer, August Browning, revealed that the team were still testing Viego nerfs for the new patch. These are the Viego nerfs we’re currently testing for next patch.
Goals:
1. Drain power from his resets, especially when behind or building tanky.2. Reduce the versatility of his AA pattern by hitting AA range and camo radius.
3. Shift him slightly towards crit builds. pic.twitter.com/DB5EnYJH9A

Additionally, Hullbreaker and Yommuu’s Ghostblade will receive buffs. Akshan, Amumu, Gangplank and Lucian will be getting some adjustments in this patch as well. The changes coming to Patch 11.17 are more solo queue focused as there will be no professional play on the patch. Riot Games intends to dedicate the next two patches after this to the professional meta as the World Championship will be played on Patch 11.19
The League of Legends Patch 11.17 is scheduled for release on Aug. 25.
