With the 2021 League of Legends World Championship finals taking place this week, the Top Tier panel decided to rank the best and worst teams in the history of the competition. We brought back the Upcomer League of Legends crew of Tyler, Yinsu, Nick and Parkes to breakdown the best and worst teams that have previously made it to (at least) the semifinals of Worlds.

So, get ready to see a lot of SK Telecom T1 on this list. The South Korean esports juggernaut has attended the League of Legends World Championship six different times, including this year’s tournament. They have also won the coveted Summoner’s Cup on three separate occasions — once in 2013, as well as impressive back to back world championship titles in 2015 and 2016 — led by none other than the Unkillable Demon King himself Faker.

If you happen to be a fan of western League of Legends, there isn’t a lot to look forward to when it comes to ranking League of Legends Worlds teams. The last team to win from a western nation was Fnatic in 2011, and that was before the Summoner’s Cup even existed. Since then, only two western teams have ever made it to the finals: Fnatic in 2018 and G2 Esports in 2019. And, both of those series ended in a 3-0 sweep for their respective opponents.

So, don’t be surprised when you see your favorite LCS and LEC team shuffled off into the “indifferent” category.
