VCT EMEA Stage 2 Challengers Final match-ups

Starting off the final Stage 2 VCT Challengers event on  April 23 in group A are EU’s number one seed FunPlus Phoenix and CIS’ Gambit Esports. FPX qualified for the Challengers Finals in the first Challengers event by leaving Team Vitality, Opportunists (now Team BDS) and Guild Esports in the dust. Gambit Esports have an even longer road behind them, having fought through the open qualifiers, Challengers 1 and Challengers 2, only to be matched up with the top seed of the region.

Following those games, Turkey’s BBL Esports and EU’s Team Liquid face off against each other, to the community’s surprise. The two teams are the two lower-seeded teams in the region and were expected to face higher-seeded teams. However, they do share the group with FunPlus and Gambit, so the winner has their work cut out for them.

Over in group B, Fnatic (tenth seed in the VCT EMEA region) is up against Turkey’s Oxygen Esports. While Oxygen is nineteenth seed in the region, they qualified via the first Challengers event and were given a slightly more favorable seeding in the finals.

The final series of the second day is between second seed Guild Esports (EU) and eighth seed Futbolist (Turkey). The top two of each group will move on to the VCT Challengers Finals playoffs the week after, where the event’s top two will qualify for the Masters in Iceland next month.
