Error 7: Valorant and League of Legends experience connection issues

Valorant‘s closed beta launched yesterday, and it’s already proven to be incredibly popular. So popular, in fact, that it might have caused problems with more than just Riot’s latest title. Last night, gamers started experiencing server issues with League of Legends, Legends of Runeterra, and Valorant. According to players, this error was shown as “Error 7.” Soon enough, the official Valorant Twitter released a statement about server errors.

The Error 7 alert reads as follows:

We are aware of issues with social panel and logins for some players. We are working on a fix. There was an error connecting to the platform. Please restart your game client.

Due to high traffic, players started experiencing server outages as well as spikes in internet ping. Since these issues were server-side, the best solution is as the error code says: restarting your game.

Day 1 of Closed Beta has been incredible but humbling as we scale our servers. For now, we have to pause stream drops until tomorrow morning (PT). We'll let you know as soon as they're back. We hear your questions and concerns about CB access and will clarify as soon as we can.

Of course, this was not the first issue regarding Valorant‘s closed beta. Earlier in the day, Valorant had also tweeted out about issues regarding beta key drops. While these issues took a few hours to resolve, stability issues persisted throughout the day.

Issues go deeper than Valorant

Jesper ‘Zven’ Svenningsen, a professional League of Legends player for Cloud9, brought this up on Twitter. The ADC was interrupted during his practicing for the next playoff game in the 2020 Spring Split. Other professional League of Legends players soon added their own comments to Zven’s post, confirming that he was far from the only one experiencing issues.

I guess the release of Valorant means we can't login, have ranked games, chat or a functioning match history in League 😀

And North American servers weren’t the only ones affected by this problem either. Both South American and European servers for League of Legends have also seen issues. Multiple users have also stated that the servers go back and forth between good and horrible. Additionally, some users are seeing problems with the Valorant program itself. The task manager for one gamer’s computer even showed the application crashing just seconds after they try to start it up.

It’s been over half a day since these issues began popping up, and Riot still has officially confirm that the crashes are resolved. If this is still affecting you, you’ll want to keep an eye on the Valorant Twitter and maybe get in touch with Riot’s customer service.
