TSM have substituted Academy support player Wang “Yursan” Sheng-Yu for their League Championship Series support Wei “Shenyi” Zi-Jie, who will play for TSM Academy, the team announced Wednesday.

TSM’s 2022 season in the LCS has started off 0-4. Coming into the new year, the main questions around the roster regarded the additions of Zhu “Keaiduo” Xiong at mid and Edward “Tactical” Ra with Shenyi in the bot lane, replacing talents like Hu “SwordArt” Shuo-Chieh and Tristan “PowerOfEvil” Schrage who left in the offseason.

The start of the new mid and bot lane with TSM has been winless so far this season. The org’s only win comes from a single victory against FlyQuest in the LCS 2022 Lock In, where the full TSM Academy roster was fielded.

In light of the org’s worst-ever record at the start of a season, TSM promoted Yursan and swapped Shenyi to TSM Academy.

“Shenyi needs more time to adjust to NA and improve within the TSM team environment,” TSM Vice President Dominic Kallas wrote in the TSM Discord. “To clarify for the time being, Shenyi will be playing with our academy roster and Yursan will be playing with our LCS roster.”

TSM players have openly discussed their difficulty in communication so far this split, but they remain confident that they’ll improve to contend for Worlds this summer.

Yursan has been the TSM Academy support for one full season, previously playing in the now-disbanded League of Legends Masters Series and then in the Pacific Championship Series that replaced it. With TSM Academy, Yursan finished third in the Unified Grand Prix 2021 Summer but otherwise had middling results with the team.
