The League of Legends Championship Series has announced that its LCS Spring Finals will be held in Texas. The event will take place in the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas on Apr. 18 and 19.
Last year, the Spring finals were set in St. Louis in Missouri. Since Riot Games has offices there, it made sense to keep it close to home. This year, however, they decided to do something different and go to Texas for the first time. Fan demand and feedback heavily influenced this decision.

Great location
In an official statement, Riot Games announced the reason why they chose this particular venue. “The Star is a 91-acre campus including the Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters and practice facility, as well as the brand new GameStop Performance Center and headquarters of Complexity Gaming, one of NA’s leading esports organizations.” The LCS taking place there is a big deal for esports, as the center is extremely popular. Moreover, it will bring attention to League of Legends and possibly create some great marketing opportunities.
Additionally, Dallas Cowboys Chief Operating Officer Stephen Jones is more than excited to have this event take over the center. “As the esports industry continues to grow, including here onsite with Complexity Gaming, we will continue to create and host one-of-a-kind experiences for fans all over.”
Peak season ahead
In Summer 2019, Riot Games saw the peak of the season, with over 600,000 fans watching the Summer Split. Most importantly, they brought in $5.44 million to Detroit’s economy, as the games took place in that city. As Riot aims for an even higher goal, everyone is expecting much bigger numbers.
The Spring Split Finals will show the semifinal and final matches of the season. Only one team can take home the Spring Split trophy and championship title. They will also be qualified to join the 2020 MSI tournament, leading into the World Championship Series later on. Tickets to the Spring Split will be available on Feb. 21. Riot will release more information on Feb. 14.
