For over a year, the XM4 has been of the most consistent assault rifles in Call of Duty: Warzone. While it slightly fell out of favor right after Vanguard was released, it’s been firmly in the mix for the meta since the early seasons. The Black Ops Cold War rifle is extremely consistent, both at close and long range. The XM4 has little recoil, decent damage range, and a terrific loadout that allows players to deal with any situation they might find themselves in.
There are slightly stronger assault rifles in Warzone Season 5, such as the Cooper Carbine and STG44, but players won’t be at a disadvantage for using the XM4 by any means. As long as players keep a secondary SMG on them to deal with super close-range gunfights, they’ll be perfectly equipped for anything in Warzone.

Best XM4 loadout in Warzone
As of right now, the XM4 is among the most popular assault rifles in Warzone, according to the website WZRanked. It likely won’t become the most popular AR without a huge buff in Season 5, so this loadout should continue to be in the meta mix until Warzone 2 arrives.
- Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
- Barrel: 13.5″ Task Force
- Optic: Axial Arms 3x
- Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip
- Ammunition: STANAG 60 Round
This loadout has not changed in over a year and for good reason. Every pertinent stat for an AR in Warzone is boosted. Damage range and recoil control are improved with the Agency Suppressor, 13.5″ Task Force barrel, and Field Agent Grip. The Axial Arms 3x is the perfect mid-range scope while the STANAG 60 Round ensures players can take on multiple enemies at once without needing to reload.
The XM4 might not be as firmly in the meta as other ARs, but its Warzone loadout is difficult to beat.
