The first submachine gun that players will have unlocked in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is none other than the VEL 46. For veterans of the Call of Duty series, this gun is instantly recognizable as the MP7. It’s been included in the last two Modern Warfare titles, and developer Infinity Ward was not changing that for MW2. As players will likely begin ranking up the VEL 46 before any other SMG in Modern Warfare 2, they will need a loadout for the gun sooner rather than later. Luckily, there is one loadout for the VEL 46 that stands above the others.
In MW2, the VEL 46 is a strong and capable SMG that can take down opponents anywhere on the map. While there are some other contenders for the top spot in the SMG class, the MP7 makes a strong case thanks to its fast fire rate, low recoil, and moderate damage range. However, all of those stats can be easily boosted if players use the recommended loadout for the VEL 46.

Best loadout for the VEL 46 in Modern Warfare 2
The best use-case for the VEL 46 in multiplayer is to keep it at close range. Though it has some decent long-range stats, players are better off sticking to close quarters with the SMG and decimating opponents that way. The VEL 46’s best loadout reflects this, increasing mobility above all else but also boosting range and recoil control as well.
- Muzzle: SA Schalldampfer 99
- Laser: Point-G3P 04
- Stock: VEL A-568 Collapsed
- Underbarrel: Merc Foregrip
- Rear Grip: ZLR Combat Grip
The main reason why damage range is not increased with this loadout is due to the fact that there are no strong barrels for the VEL 46. All of them carry too many cons to make the VEL 76 viable while using them. As such, we’ve opted to improve mobility and the VEL 46’s close range prowess instead.
