The AUG has a few different variants available to players in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer. The first one that players will have access to is the STB 556, which is one of the best assault rifles in the entire game. Next, players will unlock the MX9, the submachine gun version, and the HCR 56, the light machine gun variant. The HCR 56 is arguably more useful in Warzone 2, where players can take advantage of long sight lines. But it certainly has its uses in Modern Warfare 2, especially when players equip its best loadout.

Compared to the other top light machine guns in multiplayer, like the RPK, the HCR 56 stacks up quite nicely. It has a slower mobility stat than other LMGs. But it also acts like a larger assault rifle when equipped with the right attachments. Essentially, this means that players can use it like an assault rifle, but they won’t be able to rush around the map with it effectively.

With the right attachments, the HCR 56 has a tremendous damage range, little recoil, and a high rate of fire.

Best HCR 56 loadout in Modern Warfare 2

By default, the HCR 56 has average recoil control and below-average mobility. For its loadout, we’ll be aiming to increase both of those stats without losing any of the gun’s already-strong damage range.

  • Muzzle: Sakin Tread-40
  • Barrel: 18″ Bruen Guerilla
  • Optic: AIM OP-V4
  • Underbarrel: FTAC Ripper 56
  • Rear Grip: Bruen Q900 Grip

The list of attachments starts with the Sakin Tread-40 muzzle and the 18″ Bruen Guerilla barrel. Both of these attachments give a significant boost to the HCR 56’s recoil control. The barrel, as well as the Bruen Q900 Grip, improves aim down sights time and sprint-to-fire time as well. Rounding out the loadout is the FTAC Ripper 56, which provides extra stability, and the AIM OP-V4 optic. The optic is perfect for mid-range gunfights, the optimal fighting distance for the HCR 56.
