Call of Duty
There were some underrated weapon buffs with the Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4 update. While many players focused on the buffs to Vanguard weapons, guns from other games also received some substantial stat increases. One such weapon to receive a significant buff was the Black Ops Cold War AUG. This burst-fire tactical rifle has not been in the meta since it dominated for a stretch in 2021. However, the burst-fire meta appears to be making a comeback in Season 4. This means that players should take advantage of the Cold War AUG and its buffed loadout in Warzone.
The Cold War AUG is a clunkier rifle that players should absolutely pair with a powerful submachine gun as a secondary. Players will be hard-pressed to find a stronger weapon at range than the AUG, though. Since it’s a burst-fire weapon, the AUG is extremely accurate and can deal a huge amount of damage if players hit all their shots in a burst. This makes the Cold War AUG especially useful on a map like Fortune’s Keep, as players can keep most of their gunfights at medium-range, which is where the gun truly excels.

Best Cold War AUG loadout in Warzone
Any player that used the Cold War AUG during its hay-day in 2021 will recognize its top loadout instantly. The loadout has not changed since the AUG was popular, but it’s for good reason.
- Muzzle: Agency Silencer
- Barrel: 17″ Titanium
- Optic: Axial Arms 3x
- Underbarrel: Field Agent Foregrip
- Magazine: 45 Rnd Drum
The most important attachment on this loadout is the 17″ Titanium barrel. This provides a significant boost to the gun’s fire rate, which players need if they want to kill enemies as quickly as possible. Recoil control and damage range are also increased with this loadout, making the Cold War AUG stronger in every pertinent stat.
