Light machine guns have been represented with great force in the early weapon meta of Call of Duty: Warzone 2 Season 1. Guns like the RPK and Sakin MG38 have made their presence known on Al Mazrah, as many players have actually been deferring to them over more traditional assault rifles. However, not every player has found success with either of those guns, especially early on in Season 2. So, if you fall into that crowd, we recommend trying another LMG loadout in Warzone 2, like the 556 Icarus.

The 556 Icarus was a popular LMG at the start of Modern Warfare 2, but this was mostly due to it being a part of the FJX Cinder Weapon Vault. If players purchased the Vault Edition of MW2, they got access to 50+ attachments for the 556 Icarus, which is a huge boon at the start of a game.

Since the release of Warzone 2, however, the 556 Icarus has been supplanted by other LMGs, as players found the Icarus isn’t as strong as them. Still, the 556 Icarus has a strong loadout if players equip it with the right attachments.

Best 556 Icarus loadout in Warzone 2

To make the 556 Icarus a competitive weapon in Warzone 2, players will want to increase its overall damage range and recoil control. This will allow players to kill enemies quicker and with more efficiency.

  • Muzzle: Harbinger D20
  • Barrel: FTAC Coldforge 16″ Barrel
  • Optic: AIM OP-V4
  • Underbarrel: VX Pineapple
  • Rear Grip: Sakin ZX Grip

The loadout begins with the Harbinger D20 suppressor and the FTAC Coldforge 16″ Barrel. Both of these attachments provide a boost to damage range, bullet velocity, and recoil control. Then, there’s the VX Pineapple and Sakin ZX Grip, both of which further improve the Icarus’ accuracy and stability. Finally, there’s the AIm OP-V4 optic, which has been the preferred sight for streamers since the release of Warzone 2.
