Cyberpunk 2077 features a wide variety of side quests that take you on adventures all throughout Night City. From helping a man through the loss of a tortoise to various smaller gigs, there’s something for everyone. However, there are a couple of quests that are similar in theory but different in practice. Both “Beat on the Brat” and “The Beast in Me” are multi-step quests that see V taking on challengers. Beat on the Brat focuses on hand-to-hand fights and The Beast in Me is all about racing. For today, we’ll be going over the races and what to do in the final step.
How to complete The Beast in Me in Cyberpunk 2077
In order to start this side quest, you’ll receive a call from Clair, a woman in Santa Domingo who owns a garage. She’ll tell you to come to her garage during the daytime. You can advance time through the inventory screen if need be.
Once you enter the garage, Clair will be underneath a car, and eventually, you’ll become her driver in a series of races across Night City. The first three races are the Qualifying Races, which are either marked in your journal after you leave, or you’ll need to wait a few days to get another call.
After the quests are in your journal, simply head to each location. At the first race, Clair will offer you the chance to use her vehicle, which you should probably accept. Whether you use her car or not, you’re required to win all three races, which are in City Center, the Badlands, and Santa Domingo.
There’s really not much skill required in the races themselves. Ensure that you hit all of the checkpoints and let Clair take care of the enemies firing shots at your car. Each race win will net you some XP, 541 Street Cred, and 2,780 eddies.
The final step in the quest
Finally, after all of the Qualifying Races are won, you’ll move on to the finals, or “The Big Race.” Prior to that though, Clair will open up to you about her late husband. This is important because the driver in The Big Race is Sampson, the man Clair believes killed her husband.
After this dialogue ends, Clair will give you the choice of killing Sampson or winning the race. Whatever you decide to do, know that it will affect future storylines involving Clair. She’ll either be happy or angry with you.
During the actual race, you can choose to follow Sampson after his car breaks down or go and win the race. If you follow Sampson, his car will crash and burn, resulting in Clair threatening to kill her. You can elect to have Clair kill Sampson or spare his life.
If you choose to have Clair spare his life, he’ll be thankful and you’ll receive his car as a reward. Also, Clair will allow you to keep her car, “The Beast.” So, ultimately, it’s wise to let Sampson live, as it ends with you earning two free vehicles instead of just one. If you allow Clair to kill the driver, you will not receive his vehicle.
