This collaboration is the first of its kind in the Dota scene, with two large organizations merging into one. Galaxy Racer are a team that play in the upper division of the Southeast Asian Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) and Team Nigma is one of the most established organizations in the Western Europe DPC. While Team Nigma play in the Western European DPC, the organization is based in the Middle East. Team Nigma was created to participate in esports and also grow in the Middle East, a relatively untouched territory for esports.

The Team Nigma roster is staying the same and will only be playing under the new name. The Galaxy Racer roster will also play under the collaboration. Whether or not it will be the same players remains to be seen. According to an article by Forbes, the merger was formed to facilitate greater esports growth in both the Southeast Asian and Middle eastern regions.

“Team Nigma’s leadership team carries vast experience as professional players, which we believe will be a great asset to building and supporting all the teams under the Nigma Galaxy banner,” Paul Roy, CEO and Founder of Galaxy Racer, said in an interview with Forbes. “Celebrating and nurturing the untapped gaming community around the world is what Galaxy Racer was founded on. With this merger, we believe we will be able to truly unlock this potential and shape the future of esports on a global scale.”

This will be the first time since the creation of the DPC that an organization will have teams in two separate regions.
