Team Liquid to start Eyla in Week 4 of the LCS

CoreJJ will be absent due to a personal matter

Today, Team Liquid announced on Twitter that Team Liquid Academy support Bill “Eyla” Nguyen will return to the starting lineup to replace Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in for Week 4 of the League of Legends Championship Series while CoreJJ tends to a personal matter.

“In the absence of CoreJJ for this week, the team has been practicing with Eyla,” Team Liquid Head Coach André “Guilhoto” Guilhoto said on Twitter. “I’m more than confident that he and the team will do a great job on securing three wins this weekend.”

After CoreJJ was stuck in limbo for weeks, waiting for his green card, Team Liquid were finally able to run the team’s 2022 full starting lineup of Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau, Lucas “Santorin” Larsen, Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg, Steven “Hans sama” Liv and CoreJJ during Week 3. Although it was his first time playing on stage with that iteration of the roster, CoreJJ and Team Liquid pulled off an impressive 2-0 against Evil Geniuses and Counter Logic Gaming.

During his stint with the main lineup, Eyla was quick to solidify himself as a standout support in the LCS and helped the team earn its initial 3-1 record. In a postgame interview, CoreJJ spoke highly of his skills.

“I feel like there is no better support than Eyla in LCS,” CoreJJ said. “I’m sad that I can’t play against potentially the second-best support player in the LCS.”

Eyla will be stepping up for the team during potentially one of the most important weeks of the spring split. Week 4 is a super week, meaning every team will play three matches across three days, and Team Liquid will face Golden Guardians, Dignitas QNTMPAY and TSM.

Catch Eyla back in action during Team Liquid’s Week 4 opening match of the weekend against Golden Guardians at 6:30 p.m. ET.
