Team Liquid League of Legends partners with Bud Light

One year after the League of Legends Championship Series partnered with Bud Light, four-time champions, Team Liquid, have made Bud Light the official beer for their LoL team.

For the past four years, Monster Energy has been the sole drink sponsorship for Team Liquid. However, Bud Light now rivals Monster Energy’s current spot as their official drink brand within the organization. Interestingly enough, it appears that the adult beverage sponsor seems to be tied directly to their League of Legends team. Team Liquid’s League of Legends Twitter account announced the development. Therein, they also featured the staff and players. This sponsorship mirrors that of the LCS, which has featured the famous “Bud Light Ace” and the “Bud Light Lounge.” The Bud Light Lounge was first introduced after the partnership as an “adult” after show that featured interviews with players and coaches.

Bud Light furthers its reach in esports

Bud Light entered the competitive gaming scene with NBA 2K League in late August of 2019. They then sponsored their first esports team, Magic Gaming, in January of 2020. Outside of NBA 2k and League of Legends, Bud Light has not partnered with another esports team or event.

Team Liquid will become the first known esports organization to have both an energy drink and beer sponsorship. Drink companies are starting to realize the potential of esports now that the production has become more mainstream. Just recently, 100 Thieves partnered with Rockstar Energy after CEO Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag was featured in their Super Bowl commercial.
