Asger “AcilioN” Larsen is now a free agent. The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player has been released by Heroic, over two months after the organization benched him in favor of stand-in Filip “NEO” Kubski.
At one point, AcilioN was Heroic’s in-game leader, shepherding the Danish squad to major victories at Games Clash Masters and Toyota Master CS:GO Bangkok in late 2018. His benching followed a period of underperformance for Heroic, who suffered an abysmal 13th-place finish at IEM Sydney earlier this year.
Heroic’s decision to release AcilioN comes only a week after the team benched Daniel “mertz” Mertz and signed Niels Christian “NaToSaphiX” Sillassen. With the ninth season of
ESL Pro League in full swing, Heroic appears to be undergoing a significant roster shuffle.
Although AcilioN is currently without a team, his deep CS:GO resume may help him find a new home soon. In the past, he’s played for high-profile organizations such as Splyce, Dignitas, and SK Gaming, and a few bad results do not mean AcilioN’s best days are behind him.
If anything, the Dane appeared excited by the news, looking forward to joining a team’s active roster instead of moldering away on the bench. “I can’t wait to play on a team again I’m so damn excited!!” wrote AcilioN following his release.
