The patch notes for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds were released today, revealing a number of significant changes coming to the battle royale title. PUBG patch No. 29 is currently on test servers and is set to go live soon.
The most notable changes were balancing adjustments applied to Vikendi, the snowbound map released in December. In order to make Vikendi a more level playing ground for snipers (and their targets), the developers increased the spawn rate of four-wheel drive vehicles to create added cover while also boosting the spawn rate of medium- and long-range weapons. The spawn rate of close-range weapons such as the Shotgun and Pistol were decreased slightly.
Patch No. 29 also includes a few important gameplay changes. Players can now drop Tactical Map Markers on the map in order to better direct and communicate with teammates, with markers for situations such as “Attack, Danger, Defend, Loot, Regroup,” and “Vehicle.”
Finally, there are a few quality-of-life changes, including a fixed crosshair that allows players to easily identify whether throwables are tossed underarm or overarm and a minimap adjustment that shows the icon and status of faraway teammates on the edge of one’s minimap, making it easier for teams to regroup.
