The latest Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 update is now live for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users, with a PC release scheduled for May 2. The content packaged with patch 1.17 is primarily centered around the Operation Spectre Rising event, featuring a new Specialist, new maps, and new weapons. Operation Spectre Rising is currently live for PlayStation 4 users and is scheduled to come to both Xbox One and PC on May 7.

Blackout changes

In patch 1.17, Treyarch applied a number of changes to the Blackout mode, most notably in the form of an update to the Wetworks map. An explosion at Hydro Dam has caused the map to experience a flood, transforming the Dam, Factory, Hijacked, Cargo Docks, and the farm near Firing Range and making them more accessible to water-based vehicles. Additionally, the DART is now available to find and equip in the battle royale mode, allowing players to perform drone strikes on their opponents from afar.

Multiplayer updates

The changes to multiplayer mode are on the minor side, primarily taking the form of tweaks to weapon range, damage, and cooldown. The developers also fixed a couple of glitches present in Search & Destroy mode.

World League Hub

Treyarch has also changed the rules of the World League Hub in order to deter players from attempting to manipulate their rankings. Players will now be banned for a short time after prematurely leaving a League Play match, with ban times increasing as they accrue suspensions. Furthermore, the point penalty for quitting out of League Play matches has been increased.
