Epic Games teased a new Fortnite X Avengers crossover event on their Twitter today, launching on April 25 alongside the release of Avengers: Endgame.

The teaser image shows one of Fortnite’s characters wielding Captain America’s shield, which doesn’t reveal too much on its own, but could be a hint to the kind of content we’ll see.

This isn’t the first time Epic has held an event to celebrate the release of an Avengers movie. Last year, players were able to wield Thanos’ infinity gauntlet during a limited time solo event promoting Avengers: Infinity War. Picking up the item would transform the player into Thanos, granting them his destructive abilities.

Given that the infinity gauntlet was an added weapon, perhaps the teaser is a sign that Cap’s shield will be collectible in-game or part of a special limited time mode. Alternatively, picking up some of the Avenger’s weapons could give players the ability to assume the heroes’ powers.

The Fortnite map is already in the midst of an alien invasion, with strange runes that are gradually being pushed across the island, and an unusual hatch that’s been excavated in loot lake. On Thursday, with the new event dropping, we might also get some answers to this ongoing mystery.
