Paying a bus driver to take you from point A to point B isn’t a foreign concept to most people. That’s why, when Fortnite introduced a bus fare to their newest event the solo and duo Gauntlet, no one batted an eye.
This event has been well-received by the community since its inception, but there are still questions floating around about the bus fare. Here’s everything you need to know about the bus fare and why it’s the best thing to happen to competitive Fortnite.
The bus fare, simply put, is the amount of points that you have to pay to participate in a single game. Don’t worry though, the point system is very generous, and you can easily make your points back.
You only have to pay two points per game. Two points may seem like a cheap price or a random number, but it’s actually the perfect amount to compliment the new scoring system. If you add all elimination and placement points per game, it totals up to 207 points max. However, players had to spend 200 total points to enter the game in the first place. This means that there are slightly more points being given than taken. This ratio opens up the door for players to climb and fall down the leaderboard.
Consider the last competitive game that you’ve played. You probably gained just as much as you lost in a ranked game. With this system, you can truly test your skills against players at your level, just like every other competitive game on the market.
Fortnite has been under heavy fire about implementing a matchmaking system. The pop-up cup was great, but definitely had its flaws. The Gauntlet’s point and bus fare system is a huge step in the right direction for competitive Fortnite. All they needed to do was ask players to pay the hard-working battle bus driver.
