X7 Esports, a team competing in the Northern League of Legends Championship, have signed jungler Anton “Viking” Andersson, sources told Upcomer on Friday.

This follows X7’s announcement of the benching of jungler Mohammed “MC” Chinoune on their Twitter earlier in the day.

X7 Esports had a great start for a first year in European Regional Leagues. After winning the NLC, they qualified to the European Masters before losing to LDLC OL in quarterfinals. Following this performance, X7 sold jungler Kang “Haru” Min-seung to League European Championship squad Team Vitality.

Despite adding MC as replacement to Haru, along with the acquisition of bot laner Amadeu “Attila” Dias de Carvalho and top laner Kim “Chasy” Dong-hyeon, X7 had a tougher spring split. They are currently sitting at a 6-6 record and sixth in the NLC after six weeks of competition. With the acquisition of Viking, the reigning NLC champions will hope to solidify their spot in the NLC playoffs.

Formerly known as Viking Anton, the Swedish Viking played in Turkey and Spain previously. After joining Izi Dream in 2020, the jungler rose in popularity in France as a Ligue Française de League of Legends personality and player. Some big muscles, tweeting in French and banter with French personalities helped him gain even more fame in the LFL.

For example, French caster Jean “Trayton” Medzadourian tweeted the following video after losing a push-up contest to Viking.

Competition-wise, Viking had a decent start with Izi Dream when the team finished fourth in the LFL 2020 Summer Split. However, the team finished 10th one year later and was relegated to the LFL second division.

This spring, Viking played in the NLC with Dusty and reached third place in the NLC 2022 spring playoffs. Dusty ended up replacing Viking with jungler Linas “Lyncas” Nauncikas this summer, which freed Viking up for X7.
