UCAM esports have finalized their roster for 2022, sources told Upcomer on Friday. The Spanish organization competing in the LVP SuperLiga is expected to sign André “Afm” Martins and Mehdi “Boukada” Lahlou in addition to Antonio “Rubi0o” Cruz Clavel, Marcos “Xaky” Letras and Adrián “Homi” Moldes López.
Boukada played in the Ligue Française de League of Legends as a rookie last season. While he failed to qualify for promotion with Team MCES, he still showed enough promise to get hired in an accredited ERL for a second shot.
Coming from Portugal, Afm has played for two different teams in Italy this year — twice alongside former LEC supports. With Cyberground, Afm and Mads “Doss” Schwartz had a fifth place finish at the PG Nationals 2021 Spring Playoffs. During the summer split, Afm played with Axolotl alongside support Risto “Nukes” Luuri, this time for a third place finish at the PG Nationals 2021 Summer Playoffs.
AFM also managed to win seven titles in the Portuguese league with Xaky, who he will reunite with on UCAM.
UCAM won the last SuperLiga spring split playoffs with a very competitive and connected roster. They were one of the favorites to win the European Masters but ended up losing to Karmine Corp, the champion of the spring 2021 edition of the European Masters.
In the SuperLiga summer split playoffs, they fell just short of victory in the finals, losing 3-1 against Vodafone Giants. At the European Masters Summer Split, they fell to Karmine Corp once again, this time in the quarterfinals.
