Antonio “Rubi0o” Cruz Clavel and Marcos “Xaky” Letras reached a verbal agreement to compete with UCAM Esports Club for the upcoming 2022 season of the LVP SuperLiga, sources close to Upcomer confirmed Monday.
UCAM won the last SuperLiga spring split with a very competitive and connected roster. They were one of the favorites to win the European Masters but ended up losing to Karmine Corp, the champion of the spring 2021 edition of the European Masters.
In the 2021 summer split, Pedro “Plasma” Simões Ribeiro, UCAM’s support at the time, had to stop competing due to an injury. The roster remained competitive but they ended up losing the final against Vodafone Giants.
Rubi0o was previously a Cream Real Betis player. He is a resident of Spain, so he would be one of the two players that would count towards the residency rule. The other resident(s) are yet to be defined. Rubi0o began competing with BCN Squad in 2020, but it was not until the 2021 season that the toplaner began to compete with Cream Real Betis.
On the other hand, Xaky is a player who has never competed in Spain. UCAM are known for bringing new players to the competition, usually from Portugal like Xaky. In January of 2020, UCAM signed the Portuguese mid laner João Miguel “Baca” Novais Bigas and the support Plasma, along with their former Coach Gonçalo “Crusher” Pinto Brandão.
Xaky was the mid laner of White Dragons, a Portuguese league team that won the LPLOL 2021 Grand Final on Nov. 13.
With the addition of Rubi0o and Xaky, UCAM will fill their top lane and mid lane spots, respectively.
