Misfits Gaming have signed Carl Felix “MagiFelix” Boström as a substitute for their League Of Legends European Championship (LEC) team, sources told Upcomer on Tuesday. Magifelix will serve as a substitute for playoffs, which Misfits Gaming have already locked with a 10-5 record in the LEC.

Misfits Premier, Misfits’ LFL team, are also close to locking playoffs with their 8-6 record. However, the main team calling up an academy player such as Mateusz “Czajek” Czajka as substitute could hurt Misfits Premier in those playoffs, and possibly at the European Master 2022. Since LEC rules force teams to field a substitute for playoffs, Magifelix will fill that role. The current mid lane starter of Misfits is Vincent “Vetheo” Berrié.

Magifelix’s history

While playing for Astralis during the 2021 summer split, Magifelix finished seventh place in the LEC. Following a mid lane change for Astralis, Magifelix hadn’t sign with a new team for 2022. Instead, he appeared once again in rank 1 of Europe West’s server Solo Queue.

Magifelix even reached 1988 LP and was potentially one game away of 2000. This is the highest LP ever achieved on standard League Of Legends servers.

This also isn’t the first time Magifelix served as a substitute, as he already filled that role for Fnatic at the 2020 League of Legends World Championship — though he didn’t get any playtime back then.

What to expect from Misfits Magifelix

It is unknown whether Magifelix will play or not this time, but considering this signing isn’t related to starter Vincent “Vetheo” Berrié’s performance, the same scenario from Worlds 2020 could play out the same way.

With one week left in the LEC, Misfits Gaming have Astralis, Fnatic and SK Gaming remaining on their schedule. Their playoffs roster will be the following:

  • Top laner Shin “HiRit” Tae-min
  • Jungler Lucjan “Shlatan” Ahmad
  • Mid laner Vincent “Vetheo” Berrié
  • Mid laner Carl Felix “MagiFelix” Boström
  • Bot laner Matúš “Neon” Jakubčík
  • Support Mertai “Mersa” Sari
